Kitten is built on, and learns from, the work of these open-source projects and people. Thank you to everyone who builds and maintains them.
Zed
Zed is a fast, collaborative code editor. Kitten follows Zed's lead in many places:
- Design. Kitten's interface is modelled on Zed's.
- Performance. Kitten's approach to speed follows Zed's.
- This website. The site and these docs are built after Zed's website and docs layout.
- Crash reports. Kitten reports crashes to Sentry the way Zed does.
- Updates. Kitten's updater works the way Zed's does.
- Themes. Kitten's themes come from Zed's extension gallery.
GPUI
zed-industries/zed/crates/gpui
GPUI is the GPU-accelerated UI framework that Zed is built with. Kitten's entire interface is drawn with GPUI.
Bruno
Bruno is an open-source, Git-friendly API client. Kitten's auth and environments were built with Bruno's implementation as a reference. Kitten also imports Bruno collections and converts their scripts to Rhai. See Bruno to Rhai.
Mitchell Hashimoto
mitchellh.com · ghostty-org/ghostty
Mitchell Hashimoto created the Ghostty terminal and the Rex terminal multiplexer. Kitten's approach to performance is inspired by Ghostty and by his posts demoing Rex.
Yaak
